Khwazakhela Bypass
The project is a major bypass road with a total length of 3.560 KMs having additional links and junctions of 1.543 KMs in the Swat district bypassing the Khwazakhela bazar. The project also includes the Detailed Design of a 128m Bridge. On average approx. 2.7 million domestic and foreign tourists visit the popular destinations in the province each season. This project will significantly cut down the hour-long rush hour travel in Khwazakhela bazar for tourists visiting destinations like Kalam, Malam Jabba, Madyan and Shangla top etc. The bypass will start short of Khwazakhela on N-95, crossing across the Matta-Khwazakhela Road and terminating on N-90. The existing road facility passing through Khwazakhela bazar is a single carriageway with a limited RoW resulting frequent traffic congestion. The Existing facility won’t accommodate the current and projected traffic due to enhanced tourism, therefore, to avoid future congestion and to improve mobility, a bypass project is incepted. This bypass project will be connected to Swat Motorway through the Khwazakhela-Matta Interchange giving direct access to Swat motorway. If an additional loop from N-90 to Shangla is provided the commuter towards Shangla and Besham will benefit the most avoiding Khwazakhela bazar.
