THE PROJECT

Pakistan Airport Authority (PAA) has developed the New Islamabad International Airport (NIIA), Fateh Jhang with civil works pertaining to the construction of the airfield pavements i.e. runways, taxiways and aprons were completed at the time. Airfield pavements were built on a virgin land comprising cut and fill sections with natural surface level (NSL) of undulating nature with resurrection of embankment fills in range from 8m to 20m. With a view to evaluate airfield runway pavements strength, the CAA had designated the firm to carry out evaluation based on non-destructive testing using Falling Weight Deflectometer (FWD).
