THE PROJECT

The Civil Aviation Authority of Pakistan (CAA) intends to undertake upgradation and rehabilitation of airside infrastructure of Bacha Khan International Airport (BKIA), located in Peshawar. The upgradation and rehabilitation of existing airfield infrastructure includes runways, taxiways, and aprons. To evaluate the structural and functional condition of the runway pavement system, CAA has appointed OCL-Pavron JV to carry out a comprehensive pavement condition and structural assessment using the Pavement Condition Index (PCI) and Falling Weight Deflectometer (FWD) methodology respectively. The PCI approach is developed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (recognized by FAA and ICAO), is based on visual inspection and distress evaluation to determine the overall health and serviceability of the pavement.
